Children's and Youth University at HNEE - online this year

The Children's and Youth University of the Eberswalde University for Sustainable Development (HNEE) will take place digitally on 18 March 2021 in cooperation with the Barnim Uckermark Community Foundation. On this day, interested pupils will gain an insight into the exciting world of science at HNEE.

For grades 5 and 6, there will be an online lecture in the morning about the adaptable raccoons and their distribution as well as a webinar about the world of biosphere reserves. Afterwards, the slightly older pupils can learn interesting facts about moors in an afternoon programme. A subsequent webinar will take a closer look at the topic of forests and their future in the climate crisis.

Back in 2008, the children's university as a cooperation project between HNEE and the Barnim Uckermark Community Foundation. The Youth University followed in 2012. Since then, there have been new and exciting topics to discover every year as part of this lecture and workshop series. Even in this year, which has been characterised by the coronavirus pandemic, HNEE does not want to deprive children and young people of the experience of immersing themselves in the world of science at HNEE - even if not in person on the city campus. This is why the Children's and Youth University is being held as an online event for the first time.

With growing popularity, more and more schools and thus children and young people have taken advantage of this event format in recent years - most recently around 1,000 pupils at the Children's University and more than 300 pupils at the Youth University.

School classes, groups and individual children can register free of charge from now until 12 February 2021 at offen@hnee.de.

The two online lectures are open to an unlimited number of participants, who can join live via YouTube if they have registered in advance.
