Research facilities

At HNEE, individual research expertise is brought together within effective institutional structures. These structures actively involve early-career researchers in research consortia, strengthen collaborative capacity and publication output, increase visibility, provide support with the administration of research projects, and thus enhance HNEE’s appeal as a research hub.

Research and transfer institutes are cross-departmental, profile-building structures that bring together research-intensive professors and their research groups into theme-centred collaborative networks. Within these institutes, in accordance with a research strategy specific to the institute, joint grant applications are strategically planned and implemented, collaborations with non-university research institutions and other higher education institutions are established and maintained, and early-career researchers are supported and encouraged in their career planning. Furthermore, exchange with visiting scholars and non-university research institutions is facilitated. In this way, a space for knowledge growth is created through these institutions.

Research and Transfer Centres are thematically focused cooperative structures assigned to a department and situated below the university-wide institutes. They enable a thematically focused profile, serve as visible points of contact for partners from academia and industry, and offer early-career researchers structured training opportunities.

Research groups at HNEE comprise the (academic) staff assigned to a specific professorship. These staff members work together on research and transfer projects with a thematic focus, assigned to a department.
