We ensure quality to realise your potential
All study and teaching processes come together in quality management. We continuously evaluate teaching and studies at HNEE together with you in order to constantly improve our degree programmes and courses.
Here you will find information on the following topics
HNEE is committed to being a face-to-face university that develops, tests and implements innovative digital teaching formats to improve the acquisition of skills. In teaching, the focus is on the systematic and university-wide implementation of higher education for sustainable development (HBNE). The aim is to implement an architecture of learning with regard to the curricula of the degree programmes. To this end, HNEE offers high-quality teaching and learning formats that are practice-orientated and in which student participation and interaction are encouraged. In an innovative environment, students acquire professional expertise and design skills in terms of education for sustainable development. In addition, as graduates they are both able and willing to take on responsibility.
All degree programmes at HNEE are accredited. Exceptions are newly established degree programmes that are in the process of initial accreditation. The existing instruments are being further developed and supplemented. HNEE is currently examining the transition from programme accreditation to system accreditation.
The quality and studyability of the degree programmes is confirmed externally by the Accreditation Council with the successful (re-)accreditation. The (re-)accreditation processes are currently decentralised across the degree programmes. In programme accreditation, degree programmes with similar content are assessed together. In the future, these processes are to be centralised and, if necessary, also lead to a decision for system accreditation, in which the university is assessed as an overall unit.
We combine various evaluation procedures to determine the quality of the degree programme. These include various surveys throughout the degree programme: first semester surveys, course-related teaching evaluations, student surveys on study conditions (semester interviews), alumni surveys and audits as part of the accreditation process. Student representatives are also involved in the Commission for Study and Teaching.
Together with the → Network Study Quality Brandenburg (sqb), HNEE offers further education in higher education didactics and counselling on quality development in teaching. Here you will find offers for your individual teaching practice, collegial teams in teaching or developments in higher education didactics at degree programme or department level.
How you can give us feedback
Further information on the evaluation of teaching
The Brandenburg Higher Education Act requires universities to carry out regular teaching evaluations. The HNE Eberswalde is therefore also obliged to do so. The aim is to review the quality of teaching and the regularity of this review can determine to what extent and whether an improvement has taken place. However, the evaluation of classes not only helps the state of Brandenburg to monitor, but also each individual student. It acts as a mouthpiece for the students and allows them to give anonymous feedback on the class. Problems can thus be identified and changes initiated.
The quantitative survey via our evaluation software guarantees an anonymous survey. The method itself ensures that no references are made to the individual respondents. Please note that you are responsible for the anonymity of your answers in the free response field. Of course, anonymity cannot be guaranteed in the case of qualitative methods in the sense of semester interviews.
The first semester surveys take place at the end of the first semester. The university's evaluation statutes stipulate that an evaluation discussion should take place between the students and lecturers. This only makes sense if both parties are still "close" to the course and are not involved in new modules in the new semester. The teaching evaluation therefore takes place shortly before the end of the module, but no later than 14 days before the end of the lecture period. This gives lecturers the opportunity to communicate directly with the semester that evaluated them about the problems and suggestions in order to scrutinise the students' opinions. This means that an evaluation after the examination period does not make sense.
The results are handed over to the lecturers and the relevant dean's office. The lecturers are obliged to conduct evaluation interviews with the participants of the respective classes as soon as possible after receiving the evaluation results.
