Our research aims to generate new knowledge and make it accessible to the scientific community and the public. Research is the process of gaining new knowledge, while publishing documents this knowledge so that it can be shared with other scientists. Without an adequate research infrastructure, it would be difficult to research and publish effectively. Successful publications are often an important part of a scientist's evaluation for promotions, grants and research funding. The academic career path therefore depends heavily on the ability to research and publish successfully.
