We see ourselves as a pioneer and initiator and sustainable development as a process that requires effective design methods as well as committed and well-trained people who identify potential companions and multipliers and set change processes in motion.

HNEE has clearly positioned itself in this regard with its renaming in 2010. Since its re-founding in 1992, the sustainability-oriented → mission statement has provided a foundation for networked action in teaching, research, transfer and in shaping → our culture of sustainability at HNEE.

We are an → international university that is clearly committed to common European values. These include, in particular, freedom of science and research, equality of all people and respect for human dignity, regardless of origin, religion, social status, gender and sexual orientation. We value the diversity of our students and employees. The → Network for Diversity and Equal Opportunities actively promotes respectful behaviour in everyday university life.

Motivated employees are of considerable importance for the success of a university. Against this background, HNEE is committed to reconciling family and career as well as family and studies. Our students and employees receive support through appropriate programmes, including health-related ones. A → health management programme for all members of HNEE contributes to the improvement of physical and mental health with various offers.
