HNEE effective in science, business and society
The HNEE, the district-owned Kreiswerke, the agricultural company Schorfheide Agrar GmbH and the company Finizio show how applied regional development and life-cycle management can work.

For more than three years, HNEE has been involved in research into recycling fertilisers from human excrement together with the Eberswalde-based company Finizio. Initial scientific results confirm that recycled fertilisers from human excrement are good for plants and the environment. The transdisciplinary research project zirkulierBAR has brought movement into the political framework. The signs are not bad that recycled fertilisers will be approved as fertilisers in a few years' time. Until then, the regional network will remain strong, alliance partners will remain in place and the necessary trials will continue to be carried out. This year financed by crowdfunding.
University President Matthias Barth commented: "The zirkulierBAR - Region.innovativ project with Finizio GmbH has shown how we as a university can have an impact in the region and provide impetus here in this network of eleven partners"
