ZIM Project Clarinets - Development of alternative materials for the production of woodwind instruments and instrument cases from thermally modified and polymer-impregnated European woods
The aim of the present R&D project is to develop a process for the production of composite materials which, on the one hand, can be used as a substitute material for grenadilla in woodwind instrument making and, on the other hand, can be used in the construction of high-quality and ecologically produced instrument cases by means of a few adjustments to the process parameters. The modification processes planned for this purpose are intended to combine the advantages of both modification processes by means of a combination of thermal and chemical tempering.
