HNEE sustainability report published

In its third report on sustainable development, Eberswalde University of Applied Sciences (HNEE) documents the university's activities and achievements in terms of sustainability.
The current report shows the developments in the areas of study and teaching, research, transfer and governance for the years 2018 to 2020. The results of the annual environmental statement were also taken into account in an abridged version. Back in 2014, when the 2012/13 university report was published, HNEE set out to align its reporting with the university-wide principles for sustainable development at the university. This made it a pioneer and one of the first universities in Germany to integrate voluntary declarations on the sustainable development of the university above and beyond the required reporting obligations.

In January 2010, HNEE became the first university in Brandenburg to validate its environmental management system in accordance with the European Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS). This laid the foundation for systematic further development not only in the area of environmental management, but also towards holistic sustainability management. Sustainable development was increasingly understood as an integrative concept. Participation and education are important pillars of this. Different status groups at HNEE are actively involved in shaping internal transformation processes in the interests of the joint sustainable development of the university. One of HNEE's central tasks is to share its own success stories in order to make an important and necessary contribution to the sustainable development of society, both locally and internationally, beyond the boundaries of its own university.

The report is available online.
