Research interest

Here at the Biosphere Reserves Institute my main focus lies in investigating temporal population dynamics of forest insects in the context of the reported decline of insects. My research consists in large parts of the analysis of already existing (old) insect data and a multi-year reassessment of ground-beetles (Coleoptera:Carabidae) in the beech forests of BR Schorfheide-Chorin and parts of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern (PDF). I also work with time series data. Prior to my work at the Biosphere Reserves Institute I have done research in the fields of seed dispersal and movement ecology of mammals.

If you are interested in writing a Bachelor- or Masterthesis within my research project feel free to contact me.

Current theses:

Influence of vegetation structure on the ground-beetle community in lowland beech forests (Nancy Müller, IFEM)

Influence of woody debris on the ground-beetle community in lowland beech forests (Analena Meyer, IFEM)

Effects of climate and weather conditions on the ground-beetle community in lowland beech forests (Rebecca Arnrich, FOWI)

Finished theses:

"Investigating the early spring ground-beetle community in lowland beech forest and its dependency on different soil parameters" (2020, Andrea Brini, IFEM)
