Degree programmes

Our department offers altogether five study courses, two bachelor programmes and three master programmes.

Bachelor of Science "Landscape Management and Nature Conservation"

A sustainable, environmental sound development of land use is a key challenge for the twenty-first century. This requires a differentiated prospective land use management in the local and global context. To accomplish this task including the implementation throughout all areas of daily life, committed specialists are required with expert knowledge in biology, landscape ecology and landscape planning. Besides the proficiency in various fields of land use it is also necessary that they gained basic knowledge in economy, environmental politics and social sciences. We responded to an up-coming demand and by starting the study programme “Landscape Management and Nature Conservation” in 1993 we became pioneers in Germany for this educational profile.

Field exercises and study projects on near-by agricultural enterprises in the region transform theory into practical experiences. The University of Applied Science as a place for science and private partners as the source of current research question are closely co-operating. Entrepreneurs and practitioners become lecturers. Students and lecturers work on site on solving real-life-problems. Brandenburg as the state with the largest organically farmed land area in Germany offers ideal conditions and an innovative surrounding for the regional study concept „Study partner Organic farm “. Closely situated to the sales market of Berlin, students can gain excellent insights into the various processing and marketing options.

Regions can only be sustainably developed if natural resources are utilised in a responsible way and if the social, economic and cultural conditions are being taken into consideration. This requires to identify the potentials of regions and to motivate the people to act in a responsible and sustainable way.
